Here I have collected a list of various and sundry links which may be of interest to the BOTR fan (or to Tolkien geeks in general). This list is by no means definitive (and I can't vouch for the quality or continued viability of these links, but most are okay.) If you happen to know of a website containing any pertinent info about "Bored of the Rings" or of any other Tolkien parody/humor sites floating out there on the 'net somewhere, tell me about it, and if I think it's worthy of being included on this list, I'll post a link to it. Gracias.
The Bored of the Rings / Commentary
An article and a short review about the book as penned by the World Wide Walrus.
Rich Drushel's Parody of Appendix A,
The Lord of the Rings
Written in the same style as Bored of the Rings, it's a continuation of the book....of sorts. It makes fun of all those side-notes and appendices which appeared in the back of LOTR, and which the Harvard Lampoon had left untouched, despite their great potential for humor. (Now that potential has finally been unleashed upon an unsuspecting internet community...)
The Bored of the Rings Computer Game
Contains information on the text-based adventure game (based loosely on the National Lampoon's Bored of the Rings) which was created in 1985 for the Commodore 64 and various other game systems of that ancient era. Even has a link where you can download the game if you have (or can find) an emulator which actually plays the damn thing.
The Tolkien Sarcasm Page
There's nothing "Bored of the Rings" related on this site,
but I would be amiss if I didn't make mention of what
is hands-down, the funniest Tolkien parody page on the internet. Sites of interest: The Tolkien Crackpot Theories Page,
The Tragedie of Frodo Baggins, and the Lord of the Rings illustrated entirely in Legos!
The Very Secret Diaries of the Fellowship of the Rings Page
Hilarious Tolkien parody. It's a series of dubious (and dirty) diary entries written by various members of the Fellowship. Originally located on the LiveJournal for Cassandra Claire.
Mark's Very Large National Lampoon Site
A website devoted to the early years of the National Lampoon. Contains some great pieces from BOTR authors Kenney and Beard (and others as well) Thanks to Richard Levinson for sending me this link.
StupidRing.com
Another LOTR Parody page featuring story parodies, photo caption contests, the "pantsing" of various movie quotes, and more...(Link sent by Russ.)
Ralph Bakshi's Animated Lord of the Rings Thumbnail Theater
This site died awhile back. Rather than let it wither ignominiously into oblivion, I pulled the text for the page out of Google's cache netherworld and reposted it with thumbnails I made myself. (Yeah, it's probably illegal, but hey, good TT's are hard to come by, and I couldn't just let it die.) Enjoy.
A Day in the Life of the Dark Lordess
A LOTR fancomic showcasing the TRUE power behind Mordor...
Bardvahalla's Very Secret Journals
The unauthorized continuing saga of Cassandra Claire's 'Very Secret Diaries of the Lord of the Rings'.
Jerry the Frog's Handpuppet Movie Theater
Featuring the entire LOTR trilogy and other geek-friendly movies.
